爵士乐的品牌就像音乐本身一样，充满了传奇色彩。然而优秀的大师与巨匠，也往往因为与特定品牌的良好合作关係，而使得经典录音得以流传。Verve唱片公司从1944年成立至今，以超越60年一甲子的经典与传统傲视全球。凡是Verve唱片的爵士艺人与录音库藏，都是爵士乐坛沿革至今的一时之选与其中翘楚。
成立已经超过60年的Verve唱片，其辉煌歷史几乎就是整个爵士乐的光彩歷程，多年来持之以恆的以其坚强的艺人阵容，与经典足式的录音出版，成为爵士乐录音史上最为重要的发行公司。当年一手创办公司的老板诺曼，葛兰兹(Norman Granz)，更是已经成为爵士乐录音发行史上无法略视的传奇人物，Verve爵士的辉煌歷史，在他的努力擘划下成就伟大的篇章。因其个人的音乐兴趣使然，在二次大战期间葛兰兹以经纪人的角色为洛杉磯「311爵士俱乐部」的表演作促销。而在1944年7月2日，他策划了生平首次竹大型表演，也就是大家所熟知的JATP(Jazz At The Philharmonic)系列音乐会，从此开启了爵士乐手因而百花齐放的璀灿舞台，难以胜数的爵士大师查理帕克、奥斯卡彼德生、李斯特杨等皆因其而声名远播，成就志业，同时也打开了爵士乐打开广为认知流传的大门。而之后艾拉费兹洁拉等歌手的加盟，更增添无上的活力与神采，所有的种种，成为Verve唱片公司最为珍贵的资產，並因此循序而造就其录音產业的盛极光芒。在1962至1967年间的「后葛兰兹时代」，大部份的录音作品则由名震业界的製作人克瑞德泰勒(Creed Taylor)负责，他也是一手创建另一传奇Impulse厂牌的推手，延续葛兰兹所写下的非凡成就，在60年代如萨克斯风手史坦‧盖兹、巴西女歌手艾丝特‧吉芭托、吉它手威斯‧蒙哥马利等人，都在泰勒的规划与卓见下，灌录年最为成功而大放异彩的专辑。1972年，Verve转入宝丽金唱片系统，在这个领导专业的大家庭中，无论是新作的开放或是旧经典的整理出版，Verve仍以执撑牛耳的爵士乐品牌巨人之姿稳定前行。雪莉‧荷恩和乔‧汉德生以及杰‧杰‧强生等人，更是在此一时期创下个人的巔峰。隨著超过半世纪的焠炼，在爵士乐录音领域己成为时尚与经典代名词的Verve，它几乎就代表了爵士乐歷史的轨跡，各个领域各个世代的爵士乐顶尖乐手，在Verve所强调品质与品味兼顾的录音，提供爵士乐爱好者源源不绝的养份与滋露。
